How to Make Meal Replacement Shakes Using Only Raw Fruits, Veggies, & Nuts

Humans, like plants, need basic essential nutrients to exhibit optimal functionality and growth. But eating bowls of leafy greens, veggies, and chunks of fruit everyday is not always practical for the on-the-go urbanite. If you are like me, when you are hungry, you go for what is easy and fast. Unfortunately, “fast food” is neither natural nor healthy — for the environment or for YOU!

  • Invest in a VitaMix.   • The following raw fruits/veggies are a great add to any smoothie:

    • Berries
    • Melons
    • Mango
    • Apple/Pear
    • Peach
    • Avocado
    • Banana
    • Lemon/Lime
    • Beets (plus adding some beet will turn ANY brownish green smoothie deep red!)
    • Almonds or other nuts
    • Sunflower seeds or other seeds
  • Stay away from mustard greens (too spicy) and tomatoes (too gooey).

Blending Pro Tips:

  1. Add plenty of ice and liquids, especially if you are adding lots of leafy greens. In addition to simple purified water, we sometimes add coconut water if available.
  2. Play with seasonings. If you are not adding lots of the fruits or veggies listed above, add a dash of salt and/or brown sugar to enhance your green brew’s flavor tremendously. A little goes a long way!
